The world is loving it. The two criminals? Not so much.**

Their crime was foiled when their stickup attempt of a McDonald’s fast food restaurant in Besancon, France, was met by the skilled resistance of 11 elite French special forces soldiers who just so happened to be eating there at the time.

According to witnesses and several reports, the military members didn’t act right away, however, and allowed the robbers to clean out the register. This was by design, of course, because they knew their weapons or any force that would put innocent lives (the other 30 or so patrons in the eatery) in harm’s way.

They would eventually have to resort to it, though, but thankfully it was done with precision (as you would expect). This from NPR:

One of the would-be robbers reportedly tripped while trying to run out the door with his loot. And it was then that the special forces team nabbed him.

The other man refused to drop his weapon when ordered to do so, French police said. A member of the special forces team then shot him in the stomach. None of the diners or employees were injured. The two suspects were sent to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

They reportedly face charges of armed robbery.

Just another episode in the storied saga of military personnel protecting even on their downtime. Because, let’s face it, heroes never take off the proverbial cape. They’re 24/7, 365, open on Sundays.
