If you’re a military veteran looking for work, or a new career, attending a fair that hosts employers who are looking to add new team members can prove to be a pivotal move in a job search.
Step one is preparing prior to attending one (here are a few tips that can help guide you in this process).
Step two is finding a fair nearest you.
These resources can help accomplish this:
Veteran Recruiting Job Fairs: These are virtual — but nevertheless can give vets the opportunity to talk and network with employers over the worldwide web (they’re also available offline).
Hiring Our Heroes: A program run by the United States Chamber of Commerce, it “organizes hiring fairs and other events” to help vets, service members and military spouses seek job opportunities.
Virtual Job Scout: Part of “Hiring Our Heroes” — it helps vets, current service members and military spouses do the same thing as the aforementioned program, but virtually (entirely online).
TechExpoUSA: An online career center that features tech startups and companies, consulting firms, defense contractors and government agencies looking to hire “experienced professionals with security clearances.”
JobZone Career Fairs: A site that covers hiring events in the greater Washington D.C. area — one that gathers both defense and commercial companies, federal agencies, recruiters, staffing companies as well as colleges and universities.
Military Officers Association of America (MOAA): Organization that hosts free live hiring events as well as virtual events for both current service members and their spouses.
Corporate Gray Military-Friendly Job Fairs: These events are hosted in D.C., the surrounding metro area and Virginia Beach. In addition, they host virtual fairs online.
