According to medical professionals, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder — otherwise known as PTSD — usually occurs soon after a traumatic event. But it can also take months and even years to show up, and may even come and go over a long period of time.

Symptoms vary depending upon the person, but as a rule of thumb if you or someone close to you is suffering great distress for periods lasting over a month, if their home life or job are being affected, they should seek professional help from a doctor or a counselor.

While it may be difficult for someone to come around to that decision (which is perfectly normal and human) once they do they’ll be on the track to feeling like themselves again.

It’s not a far-flung notion or dream. These professionals deal with those suffering with PTSD every day and they will find the solutions that will end the stress and worry.
