The Veterans Administration reports that 22 vets take their lives each day as a result of PTSD-related stressors. Rather than standing by, these veterans are taking their fates and the fates of their comrades into their own hands.

Save a Warrior (SAW) is a nonprofit organization founded and administrated by veterans. The organization offers a five-day “war detox” program that helps serving active duty military members, reservists, veterans and traumatized first-responders adjust to civilian life.

Some activities included during this week-long experience include yoga, rock climbing and equine therapy. The goal of SAW is to give veterans the tools to survive and move forward.

Jake Clark, former U.S. Army veteran and FBI special agent, founded Save a Warrior three years ago. “Thus far, we’ve put 250 active duty and returning warriors through Save a Warrior to date we’ve not lost a warrior to PTS related suicide,” Clark said.
