A bill with revisions that would grant all veterans living in New Mexico access to medical marijuana is, according to the Associated Press, “advancing in the state Legislature.”

After the Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed it on Wednesday, it now faces its next challenge, which is the Senate itself. If passed, the law would amend a 2007 version and would allow veterans to treat “substance abuse disorder” (and many others) with cannabis.

Registry would also change from an annual basis, to every three years.

This from the AP:

Senate bill sponsor Cisco McSorley of Albuquerque says the provision for veterans addresses the stigma associated with post-traumatic stress disorder. Republican Senator and former Navy Rear Admiral William Payne called the provision offensive because it paints all military veterans as presumptive marijuana patients.
