If you shop for last-minute barbecue supplies at Winn-Dixie, you can rest assured that your money won’t be fueling another corporate machine. On the Fourth of July, the grocery franchise will donate 100 percent of its profits to the Wounded Warrior Project as a part of its Independence Program.

“Winn-Dixie operates in states with some of the highest Active Duty military populations in the United States,” said Ian McLeod, CEO and president of Southeastern Grocers, parent company of Winn-Dixie. “We believe we all have a responsibility to care and contribute to the lives of those who have served and sacrificed for the nation.”

The company started the Independence Program to help wounded veterans who rely on their families for support. Customers can support the program by shopping at Winn-Dixie on the Fourth of July, posting a dedication to a wounded veteran on Winn-Dixie’s Facebook page or tweeting with the hashtag #AllForHonor.
