The other day, Army Captain Steve Voglezon woke up in the morning and put on a Captain America shirt.

Just like he’s done before.

Only this time he put it on only to do a pretty damn good impression of the superhero a few hours later — in Chatham County, North Carolina — not far from where he stationed at Fort Bragg.

According to Yahoo and numerous sources, that’s where the active-duty soldier saw William Thompson and his wife trapped in their burning car, the result of a head-on collision on the two-lane country road. He abruptly grabbed a fire extinguisher, approached the car, and went to work — admitting later that he was simply administering the training the Army instilled in him dire, life-threatening situations.

The actual real-life footage of the rescue can be seen above. It’s pretty incredible.

“If I had not been a soldier, I would not have known what to do. The Army has helped a lot,” he said.

Thankfully, the people involved in the crash survived. Ever the humble hero though, Voglezon didn’t brag about his courageous actions.

“I was just at the right place at the right time,” he said. “People do this every day at the fire department. I wasn’t alone out there, there were at least 10 of us in the community working together.”

After a day like this, is there any day doubt this military service member is going to sleep like a baby?
