‘American Ninja Warrior’ tests the strength, endurance and speed of American athletes by throwing them into grueling obstacle courses. Last night, it featured a special military episode with contestants from every branch of the U.S. military.
The competition took place on board the USS Iowa, and the course was inspired by the same one used by the Navy SEALs. Men and women of all ages were allowed to participate. The oldest contestant was 72 year-old Vietnam veteran Chuck Mammay.
Despite Mammay’s impressive guns, he did not advance to the next round. Only ten veterans were able to successfully navigate the ‘American Ninja Warrior’ course, and they will compete again on the infamous Mt. Midoriyama.
The top finisher was Robin Pietschmann, a helicopter rescue swimmer from the Coast Guard who flew through the course in under 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Watch him conquer below.
