An explicit television ad campaign aimed to put a stop to the utilization of deadly military drones — created and orchestrated by a group of concerned United States military veterans — will run near “drone operating bases across the U.S. this month”, according to The Guardian.

All 15-second ad spots, the commercials will ask drone pilots to “please refuse to fly” and air during the daytime throughout April in the greater Sacramento, California area, which is in the vicinity of Beale Air Force Base.

KnowDrones.com, Sacramento’s local chapter of Veterans for Peace, and about 200-300 veterans from a Sacramento Democratic party group are all sponsoring the spots.

“We feel that it really comes down to the people who are doing the actual killing to put a stop to this,” said Navy veteran Nick Mottern, the coordinator of KnowDrones.com.

“We felt that the president and the Congress had been totally unwilling not only to stop the killing, but to provide any information to the public on the scope of these attacks since they began,” he said

In addition to the daytime version, there’s also an unedited ad — slated for after 10 p.m. — that shows wounded and dead children. This more graphic ad ran in Las Vegas last month (which is right near Creech Air Force Base).

The edited version can be seen above. The unedited (warning — it’s indeed “graphic”) can be seen below.
