Here are the things you don’t do after taking 16 shots of rum: see, hear, talk, move, stand … pilot a 7,000-ton cargo ship off the coast of Scotland.
Because if you do, like a 36-year-old Russian sailor did a few weeks ago, you’ll learn a couple of things extremely fast. And none of them are good.
First, the owners of the humongous vessel aren’t going to be happy. Lysblink Seaways knows this now, because it was their ship the drunken seaman ran aground, according to details from a Scottish maritime agency (they could be partially to blame for allowing a liquor store to exist on the boat, but, other than that …).
Second, you probably won’t stay awake for very long. Which is why the cargo monster ended up on the Kilchoan coast rocks and ruined after going full speed into them.
The vessel eventually had to be scrapped.
Sounds like one seafarer is about to spend the bulk of his coming days as a landlubber.
