Russia didn’t take long to respond to the recent framework of a deal that was struck between Iran and world powers regarding weakening the Middle Eastern country’s nuclear program.

According to the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin and company have lifted the ban on supplying Iran with a “sophisticated air defense missile system” — a delivery of S-300s — that was originally scheduled for 2010 but cancelled after the advent of UN imposed sanctions.

The munitions will be delivered “promptly”, in the words of the Russian defense ministry, as quoted by Interfax.

Iran’s defense minister, Hossein Dehghan, was quoted as saying that the decision is a step towards “establishing stability and security in the region.”

Both Israel and the United States are not pleased by the news.

“This is a direct result of the legitimacy that Iran obtained from the emerging nuclear deal,” said Intelligence Israeli Minister Yuval Steinitz.

According to White House spokesman Josh Earnest, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry raised concerns about the announcement with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
