Since 1999, the United States has observed National Military Appreciation Month. During May, there are six days designated to honor the current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including those who have died in the pursuit of freedom.  As a way of thanking military families, as well as current and former members of the military, many retailers have created special discounts in honor of Military Appreciation Month.
