There are 10,000 fewer ISIS lunatics running around today — 10,000 fewer brainwashed militants on this planet trying to brandish evil and extinguish peace.

This is all thanks to the United States and their fellow international coalition mates (nations) who together have been conducting a campaign to wipe out the threat of the Islamic State in both Syria and Iraq in the past nine months — according to U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday.

Blinken announced the statistic in a statement he made after the coalition met in Paris. He said that while progress is indeed being made ISIS has remained slippery and quick to adapt to the coalition’s tactics to eradicate them from the region.

“We have seen a lot of losses within Daesh since the start of this campaign, more than 10,000,” Blinken said on France Inter radio, using a mildly derogatory term for Islamic State. “It will end up having an impact.”

More from Reuters:

On Tuesday, Western and Arab states carrying out air strikes on Islamic State fighters backed Iraq’s plan for retaking territory after being accused by the Iraqi premier of not doing enough to help Baghdad push back the insurgents.

“At the start of this campaign (we) said it would take time,” he said. “We have conceived a three-year plan and we’re nine months into it.”
