Prince Harry is coming to the United States in October for events connected to the Orando 2016 Invictus Games. During his short visit, Harry will be in Washington, DC building stateside excitement for the upcoming competition.

The Invictus Games is an international Paralympic-style event that features wounded, sick or disabled military members from around the world. Harry first launched the games in 2014, and the second edition of the Invictus Games will take place in Orlando, Florida in March 2016.

A military veteran himself, Harry named the competition after Invictus, which means “Unconquered, Undefeated” in Latin. He founded the games in order to celebrate military veterans and prevent their sacrifices from ever being forgotten.

These Games have shone a spotlight on the ‘unconquerable’ character of service men and women and their families and their ‘Invictus’ spirit. These Games have been about seeing guys sprinting for the finish line and then turning round to clap the last man in. They have been about teammates choosing to cross the line together, not wanting to come second, but not wanting the other guys to either. These Games have shown the very best of the human spirit.

When asked what inspired him to launch the games, Harry admitted that the United States’ annual Warrior Games was “such a good idea by the Americans that it had to be stolen.” You’re damn right, Harry.
