This is United States Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) pulling the trigger on an M249 light machine gun (LMG) — formerly known as the Squad Automatic Weapon or “SAW” — at a Texas gun range recently.

The high-powered weapon recently became legal for civilian purchase.

As you may have noticed, Cruz has been pounding the pavement lately, getting the word out about his ambition to be the GOP candidate come 2016.

It’s unclear from the video exactly what he was shooting at.
