A disruptive passenger who ran down the aisle toward the cockpit of a United Airlines flight yelling “jihad, jihad” caused the plane out of Washington Dulles International Airport to make a “U-turn in the sky” Monday, according to a government official and CNN.

Officials are telling reporters there is no known link between the man and any terror organizations — his mental state is also unclear.

The 33 passengers and six crew members of Flight 1074 were aboard a Boeing 737, which was scheduled to take off from Dulles and land at Denver International Airport.

According to United Airlines spokesman Luke Punzenberger, the aircraft returned to Dulles because the unruly passenger “failed to comply with crew instructions”.

The man was subdued by passengers on the plane (as seen in the video above), and was taken to an area hospital by authorities after the plane landed at around 10:40 p.m. ET.

United said the rest of the passengers will be flown to Denver on Tuesday.
