Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody has those days. It just so happens that in the military, a mistake might involve shipping 22 samples of live anthrax to nine states and a U.S. military base in South Korea.

Anthrax looks pretty up close, but it can cause devastating illness to those who are exposed to its spores. The shipments of live anthrax occurred over the course of a year, and up to 22 people are currently undergoing medical treatment.

The Department of Defense reported that these people included five active duty Air Force members, ten active duty Army members, three civilian officials and four contractors. The labs that received the samples have been decontaminated and the anthrax destroyed.

Luckily, this disastrous mixup poses no threat to the general public. The DoD is currently investigating this oversight.
