Last night, a fatal shooting occurred at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, one of the oldest black congregations in the South.

After attending a Bible study session for an hour, a gunman shot and killed nine people and injured three others. Among the dead is Rev. Clementa Pinckney, the church’s pastor and South Carolina state senator.

Roof is still at large and considered extremely dangerous. Thanks to security footage that captured the suspect’s entry to the church, police are looking for a 21 year-old white man. The FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and other agencies have also joined the manhunt.

UPDATE: The FBI has confirmed that the gunman has been identified as Dylann Storm Roof.

UPDATE: Roof has been apprehended by Charleston police.
