Tis’ the season for giving! With Christmas right around the corner, the US Marine Corps Reserves are collecting toys for children in need through its Toys for Tots Program.
According to its website, the objectives of Toys for Tots are to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
Many universities, athletic organizations and celebrities volunteer with Toys for Tots every year. Recently, the campaign collected 1,675 toys and raised $17,095 at the Green Bay Packers game against the New England Patriots.
In the next 23 days, Toys for Tots hopes to receive enough toys for at least 7 million children.
