Marine and Bronze Star recipient Christopher Marquez was assault by a Washington D.C. Mcdonalds. The alleged culprit? Black Lives Matter.

Marquez, who is Hispanic, claims he was attacked by a group of black teenagers after being asked, “Do you believe black lives matter?'”

“The kids were asking me if I think that black lives mattered,” Marquez said. “I was ignoring them, just because I felt intimidated. I felt how they approached me, it was very hostile. I felt they were really trying to intimidate me and just trying to start a confrontation with me.”

After this point in the story, Marquez’s memory gets fuzzy. He believes he was hit on the back of the head with a handgun and passed out. While he was unconscious, the teenagers took $400 from his wallet as well as all of his credit cards and IDs.

Marquez served in Iraq between 2003 and 2011, and he participated in the infamous ‘Hell House’ firefight in Fallujah. In fact, Marquez is one of three Marines featured in a Camp Lejeune statue titled ‘No One Left Behind,’ which depicts him and another Marine helping 1st. Sgt. Bradley Kasal out of a burning building during the historic battle. His heroism earned him a Bronze Star.

The Marine, now a student at American University, told the Daily Caller that he believes his attack was racially motivated and connected to the Black Lives Matter movement. Police are currently working to verify the motive.

In an interview with the Marine Corps Times, Marquez expressed his disappointment that he survived the carnage of Fallujah only to be assaulted on American soil.

“We’re all Americans, especially in the military,” Marquez said. “We serve with people from all backgrounds. It seems like there is so much tension right now. … It’s very sad.”
