According to the website Guardian of Valor, this clown (seen above) is Richard Arthur Rahn, a convicted felon trying to pose as an Army Ranger with an incredibly distinguished career.

After this photo was snapped and passed around Facebook (he appeared at a handful of veterans’ events claiming to be “Command Sergeant Major Richard Rahn of the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment”) suspicion was raised. Sure enough, his nefarious background was scanned in search of any records of military service and … nothing.

He never did.

But that didn’t stop him displaying a fake Purple Heart, a fake Bronze Star, a fake Ranger tab, a fake Pathfinder, fake Master Jump Wings, a fake Combat Service Identification Badge and a fake Infantry cord — among many others.

In the town of Willmar, Minnesota, where sightings of Rahn and his escapades were being reported, the community began urging local authorities to do something about the imposter in their midst. Sure enough, when police issued search warrants they found illegal firearms in the faker’s possession, and he was brought up on charges.

Not only is it illegal for a felon to own a gun in Minnesota, it’s a federal offense to impersonate a military officer.

The culmination of this story? It happened Tuesday, when Rahn was sentenced to five years in prison for the illegal possession of a firearm. The judge cited that the impersonation of a decorated military officer played into the lengthy sentence.
