There’s Oedipus. And then there’s something far, far worse.

This bit of heinous, odious news out of the Syrian city of Raqqa is the latter.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an ISIS (Islamic State, IS, ISIL, Daesh, etc.) goon “executed” his own mother — that’s correct, the woman who gave him life, who birthed him — in public because she had encouraged him to the leave the terrorist organization.

The 40-something-year-old woman warned him that the U.S.-led coalition would eventually wipe out the group before she suggested they leave the ISIS-occupied stronghold together.

This from Reuters:

Citing local sources, the Observatory said the 20-year-old man executed his mother on Wednesday near the post office building where she worked in front of hundreds of people in Raqqa, a main base of operations for the group in Syria.

ISIS has executed over 2,000 Syrian civilians since it’s launched its “caliphate” a mere 18 months ago — according to the Syrian Observatory.
