We all need a vacation, right?

Right.

Just not the kind that a funeral director and hearse driver in New Port Richey, Florida are about to get after being caught “red-handed” for disregarding/disrespecting an Army veteran’s funeral by stopping off for a cup of coffee at a local Dunkin’ Donuts while Lt. Col. Jesse Coleman lay in a flag-draped coffin in the back of the vehicle.

A good samaritan, Rob Carpenter, said he confronted the two and started taking videos and photos because the driver “did not seem remorseful about the incident”.

According to ABC News, the video (above) went viral when it was posted to the Veterans Warriors group on Facebook.

The funeral service was in Lecanto. The hearse was driving from the Veterans Funeral Care in Clearwater, Florida — less than 90 miles away.

More from ABC News:

Veterans Funeral Care President Jim Rudolph said sometimes the drivers stop for bathroom breaks, but someone is supposed to stay with the vehicle at all times.

During a military transport, however, the hearse is not supposed to make any stops, he said.

“When a car leaves the funeral home with a flag on it, it’s on a stage … and we’re in ceremony mode,” Rudolph said. “Going into buy a doughnut with a flag-covered casket in your coach was a terrible lack of judgement.”

Rudolph declined to comment on why the decision was made to fire, rather than suspend, the hearse driver and funeral director.
