Sunday night at the ACM Awards, the widow of “American Sniper” Chris Kyle — Taya Kyle — introduced country music legend Garth Brooks, before he played his song “All-American Kid” (he also received an award) and paid tribute to United States military members all over the globe, including ones in the audience right in front of him in the Dallas venue.

As part of he introduction, Kyle offered gratitude to the people who protect this country each and every day.

“I’m extremely grateful to all the first responders, veterans and their families for all their sacrifices,” she said. “I hope their example will continue to inspire a culture of service in hometowns across this country.”

Check out the video above to see not only the touching speech that Brooks performed, but the emotion on the faces of the servicemen and women in attendance.
