The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI have warned law enforcement throughout the country of possible ISIS terror attacks on Independence Day.
These warnings are routinely issued before major holidays to prevent extremists from taking advantage of a high-profile holiday to gain media attention. In the wake of the terrorist attacks in Kuwait, Tunisia and France, however, the DHS is reminding Americans to remain vigilant during the upcoming holiday.
The FBI has been tracking down ISIS operatives in the United States for months. Warning the country of a possible attack is meant not to stir fear, but to alert citizens and encourage law enforcement to tighten its security measures at public events.
