Everything as a price, even historical military sites. Tyler Perry of Madea’s Family Reunion fame has purchased Fort McPherson nearby Atlanta, Georgia.
What pray tell will Perry do with his new property? Convert the entire thing to a movie studio, complete with 16 sound stages and living quarters for Perry’s 350 employees and their families. He’s essentially turning an antebellum military base into a movie base.
Fort McPherson was established as an Army post in 1885, but it hosted both Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War and Reconstruction eras. The portion of the post not owned by Perry, including its historic village, will be redeveloped into restaurants and shopping centers.
