Dolphins are among the world’s smartest animals, and they have been used by American and foreign militaries alike to carry out marine operations. The questions is, did Israeli send a dolphin to Egypt to spy on Hamas?

The Islamist organization reported that it discovered a dolphin equipped with recording devices and a harpoon along the Gaza coastline. After watching the dolphin move suspiciously around the area, Hamas agents captured and arrested the dolphin. It also told the Egyptian press that the majestic marine mammal was “stripped of its will” and transformed into a “murderer” by Israel.

Israel is often accused of sending animals (pelicans, pigeons, dolphins, dogs, sharks etc) to spy on its neighbors and enemies. It has yet to comment on its alleged dolphin spy.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are hoping that rather than following ISIS’ pigeon-killing example, Hamas will release the dolphin into the wild.
