Taya Kyle, widow of the legendary American Sniper Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, was on hand Friday at City Bank Coliseum in Lubbock, Texas to raise money for the Trinity Christian School and the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation in what was called “A Salute to an American Hero”.

In her talk she highlighted a bunch of ideals that have kept her going through immense tragedy and losing the love of her life.

Those things being God, country and family.

“I learned that a lot of bad things happen to a lot of really good people, and I was able to see a lot of our friends lose their spouses. I was able to have the conversations with Chris of what would happen if, God forbid, something would happen to him,” she said. “I was able to really appreciate life so much more because I knew that these friends of ours, their whole world had been completely turned upside down with the death of a spouse and the rest of our lives just continued on. … I saw the passage of time and I saw the women who were widows continue. I saw them survive, I saw them break and come back from it and I saw how much this country meant to Chris.”

Kyle said that while she always loved the United States, she grew to appreciate it and what it stands for so much more after marrying Chris.

The superintendent of the Texas school  — Stephen Cox — also talked and mentioned the immense power of the foundation named after Taya’s late husband and how it helps those who gave so much to defend their country.

“Really what we’re most interested in is the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation and its mission, which is to support families of first responders and military personnel, and so we’re trying to give them a platform to allow them to get the message out that people need to support these families,” Cox said.

“When (soldiers) come back, try to reintegrate with their family it can, there’s a lot of problems and obstacles that they face, so we’re all about trying to put a support system around the families and help them reintegrate back with their families at home.”
