Update (3:15 p.m.):
Police reported at 1:15 p.m. that the active shooting situation in Chattanooga, Tenn was over. Unfortunately, the situation was not diffused before military members were shot at an Army eserve Center and a Navy Reserve Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
According to ABC, one police officer was shot and four Marines were killed during the incident. Two small colleges and a nearby hospital were locked down.
The shooter is also dead.
Update (12:50 p.m.):
The U.S. Navy tweeted Thursday morning that a shooter was witnessed opening fire at a Navy reserve center by Amnicola Highway. Bystanders have also reported that the shooter has appeared at a military recruiting center.
According to witnesses, the shooter is a male carrying a “high-powered rifle.” No word yet on the man’s physical description.
Memorial Hospital is on preliminary lockdown. It has not received any shooting victims.

Reports are trickling in of an active shooter opening fire at several places around Chattanooga, Tenn, including Lee University and a Navy reserve center. One witness said her son was about to join the Air Force when a stray bullet punctured his backpack.

There have been shootings at multiple places in Chattanooga near an Army reserve center in the Tennessee city on Thursday, and one police officer was struck by gunfire, officials and local media reports said.
“There has been several (shootings) at several different locations. It’s a fluid situation,” said John Harmon, a spokesman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol, which is assisting local authorities.
“We’ve got an officer down,” Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke told reporters, calling it a “very terrible situation.”
Lee University in Tennessee is on lockdown, the school said on its website. It advised people to stay inside until further notice.
