March 11, 2015 – A spokesman at Eglin Air Force Base confirmed that 11 service members were missing after an Army UH-60 Black Hawk crashed during a training mission in the Florida Panhandle Tuesday night.

“Debris from the aircraft was located by search and rescue team at about 2 a.m. this morning,” a military statement said. “Search and rescue efforts are underway at the accident site currently.”

A dense fog advisory was in place for the region, reducing visibility in some areas to less than quarter of a mile. 4 Aircrew and 7 Marines assigned to Camp LaJeune, North Carolina, were on board the helicopter when it went down. A second Black Hawk on the training mission returned to the base without incident.
