Iran is misbehaving. Again.

According to a CNN report, a “U.S. official” and Iranian state media, the Middle Eastern power — the same nation that not too long ago agreed to accepting significant shackles regarding developing nuclear weapons — test fired new long-range ballistic missiles and unveiled an underground facility where they house the powerful, voyaging WMDs.

Here’s a photograph they broadcast from The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force of a “tunnel” some 1,640 feet into a mountain.

The launching of the missiles, even if it was a “test”, was — according to an official in Washington — most likely a violation of a United Nations resolution: U.N. Security Council Resolution 1929: a global agreement that decrees that Iran can’t mess around with ballistic missiles, at all.

This from CNN:

The U.S. official emphasized, however, that the test is not in violation of the nuclear agreement reached in July between Iran, the United States and five other world powers because that accord is focused on restricting Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon.

A newer U.N. Security Council resolution, number 2231, implementing the deal and banning Iran from engaging in activities related to ballistic missiles designed to carry nuclear warheads is not yet in effect.

The good news: it’s not nuclear. The bad news: it’s still weaponry that can kill massive amounts of innocent people from a great distance. We have a feeling this isn’t the last we’re going to hear about this story.
