A man who allegedly posed as a United States Navy Admiral was arrested Wednesday in St. Augustine, Florida and charged with both felony and misdemeanor allegations, according to authorities.

The St. Johns County Sheriffs Office is reporting that Lloyd Keith Mitchell allegedly obtained a driver’s license with fraudulent information and committed perjury in the process of trying to defend his story that he’s a military veteran with “wartime credentials”.

Mitchell has never served in the military.

According to the report, authorities caught onto the 65-year-old faker upon receiving an anonymous tip that he — might want to sit down for this one — gave an hour-long presentation at the Coquina Crossing’s Veterans Day celebration and claimed to have earned the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Silver Star with clusters and the Vietnam Medal of Honor in combat.
