Politics makes us all a little frustrated, often enough to threaten to move to Canada or England. One unidentified Anglophile was so strung out after the GOP primary debate in September that he wrote to the freaking Queen of England and begged her to take our country back as a British colony.
A copy of the letter was posted on Reddit.
On behalf of the American people, I urgently implore you to take us back.
Clearly, the options we have to lead us aren’t up to par. Again, please, I beg of you, make the United States of America a colony of the United Kingdom. For further reasons as to why this is such a necessary, albeit drastic, step, I refer to tonight’s Republican Party Primary debate. Thank you. God save The Queen.
Unfortunately for this guy, the Queen wrote back and turned him down on the grounds that, shocker, annexing the United States back into Great Britain would be an unethical thing to do.
I have been asked to write in response to your recent letter to The Queen in which you express your views about the American government.
Whilst your views have been noted, you will appreciate, I am sure, that there can be no question of The Queen intervening in the affairs of another sovereign state.
So there you have it. Anglophiles fed up with American politics will simply have to make good on their threats and move to England.
