Last week, we shared a video of civilian pro-gamers trying on military gear and attempting the same drills and maneuvers seen in Call of Duty. Buzzfeed decided to flip the script by putting some video game controllers in the hands of military veterans.

While there are many veterans and active duty troops who are avid gamers as well, for the purposes of Buzzfeed’s experiment only veterans who were completely new to the game were selected to face off against pro-gamers.

Just as flabby basement dwellers failed to get very far during real military exercises, veterans with inexperienced thumbs failed to succeed in Call of Duty. In the video, vets struggle to learn the game mechanics while pro-gamers nimbly navigate the map and slaughter their enemies. We’re of the opinion that the ability to shoot a real gun probably outweighs the ability to shoot a virtual one, but we’ll allow these gamers their victory.
