Can you imagine an American rapper hopping on a Navy destroyer and filming a music video? Of course not. Even if said rapper spat rhymes about how amazing the United States was, there’s no way our military would condone using a bonafide Navy vessel for MTV fodder.

The Iranian military has no such qualms. Mere days before President Obama closed the nuclear deal with Iran, well-known Iranian rapper Amir Tataloo released a music video entitled “Energy Hasteei,” or “Nuclear Energy” where he poses onboard an Iranian warship like a nautical figurehead. His verses hail Iran has a nuclear power while simultaneously reaffirming that the country is dedicated to peace.

“No power can prevent the Iranian nation from having peaceful nuclear energy,” he says in his opening verse.

Later, Tataloo leaves the warship so real Iranian soldiers can provide stone-faced backup vocals during the chorus.

This is pretty clear example of propaganda, though Amir Tataloo originally became famous for the anti-government bent of his music. Sometime after getting arrested by the morality police, the musical artist changed his tune. Weird, right?

If it didn’t tarnish the reputation of our armed forces, which rapper would you recruit to sing a new patriotic anthem aboard a Navy vessel? Here’s our vote.
