Tuesday marked the 12th anniversary of former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld penning what Vox calls the “greatest memo ever written” (below).
It’s short. It’s overtly simple, and well … bizarre.
It was directed toward then Undersecretary of Defense Doug Feith who — in the eyes of Rumsfeld (we’re guessing?) — had in his back pocket the solutions for the strife in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Pakistan and North Korea. Which for all intents and purposes would make Feith … God?
As you may have surmised, all of these countries are still in turmoil today — more than a decade later.
Feith either refused to flex his divine muscles or was not a deity after all.
