If you we told you that the Chinese military had a brand spanking new missile that can travel up to 900 miles, hone in on a target and destroy something as massive as an entire aircraft carrier with one hit, and it was called the Dongfeng-21D, what would you picture it looking like in your head?

Keep in mind, it’s an anti-ship ballistic missile. Called (allow us to reiterate) the Dongfeng-21D (or DF-21D, for short).

Keep also in mind that Dongfeng translates to “East Wind”.

Okay, got it? Did you envision something like this?

According to Mashable, the Chinese didn’t say a word about the missile’s development until 2011. It’s been rumored to travel faster than 10 times the speed of sound and “outrun counter missiles trying to intercept it”.

The photograph was captured Thursday during the nation’s Victory Day parade that rumbled through Tiananmen Square.
