Here it is …

The United States military — headed by President Barack Obama — handed over to Syrian rebels a bunch of expensive fighting equipment, for use in their fight against opposing militant forces (including ISIS) in the region. They, in turn, did the unthinkable. The terrible.

The rebels handed over the things they were given by America directly to fighters linked with al-Qaeda — according to the U.S. military themselves. They apparently used the hardware in exchange for safe passage.

The U.S. property that’s no longer in good hands? Six pick-up trucks and countless amounts of ammunition.

It’s one more chink in the armor that, originally, was a $500 million plan passed by Congress to arm and train more than 5,000 Syrian rebels to fight our shared enemies/terrorists. Unfortunately, the first 54 graduates of the program were slaughtered by an extremist group known as the “al-Nusra front”, and then this admissions was made by U.S. General Lloyd Austin.

“Unfortunately, we learned late today that the NSF (New Syrian Forces) unit now says it did in fact provide six pick-up trucks and a portion of their ammunition to a suspected al-Nusra Front (group),” Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis stated on Friday.

More from the BBC:

Meanwhile, Colonel Patrick Ryder, a spokesman for US Central Command (Centcom), said this happened [between September 21 and 22].

He added that the surrendered vehicles and ammunition amounted to roughly 25% of the equipment issued to the unit.

“If accurate, the report of NSF members providing equipment to al-Nusra Front is very concerning and a violation of Syria train-and-equip programme guidelines,” Ryder said.
