One former Navy SEAL and firearms manufacturer Spike Tactical are introducing a new AR-15 to the market–the Spike Tactical Crusader.

The Crusader comes with all the usual features of the AR-15, but what sets it apart from the rest are the Bible verses and crosses engraved on the weapon.

The words of Psalm 144:1, ”Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle,” are engraved on the right side of gun’s magazine. A shield and cross are etched into the left side. Several Latin words, including Pax Pacis” (Peace), “Bellum” (War), and “Deus Vult” (God Wills It) adorn the weapon’s safety lever.

While this may seem like an aesthetic feature, former SEAL and Spike Tactical spokesman Ben “Mookie” Thomas says the decision to put bible verses on AR-15s was political. If a gun is covered in Bible verses, Spike Tactical believes a fundamentalist Muslim will refuse to use or even touch it.

“Right now and as it has been for quite some time, one of the biggest threats in the world is and remains Islamic terrorism,” Thomas said. “We wanted to make sure we built a weapon that would never be able to be used by Muslim terrorists to kill innocent people or advance their radical agenda.”

The Council for American-Islamic Relations responded to the Crusader by stating it won’t solve the real problem plaguing the United States.

Americans have tragically witnessed over 250 mass killings in 2015 alone, which amounts to more than one per each day. Only one of those killings involved a self-proclaimed Muslim. Sadly, this manufacturer’s fancy new gun won’t do anything to stop the real threat in America: the escalating problem of gun violence. This is just another shameful marketing ploy intended to profit from the promotion of hatred, division, and violence.

The Crusader is selling at $1,395 with a lifetime warranty.
