Aww, isn’t this just the cutest little bald-headed graffiti guy you ever laid eyes on?

His name is Kilroy, and during the Second World War, he went, literally, everywhere. He was drawn and etched and painted on everything from buildings to ships to schools to trains — you name it.

Where he came from has been debated, with some posturing that he might’ve evolved from James J. Kilroy, a Boston shipyard worker during the era. Others hint that the American Kilroy doodle was inspired by a similar (and earlier) British version called “Mr. Chad” or “Chad”.

Whatever the case, the DC-based media outlet Vox did a recent mini-doc on the famous patriotic globetrotter, which you can view right here below:
