Stationed in Afghanistan at Bagram Air Base, United States Air Force Master Sergeant Jeremy Freeman was worried he wouldn’t be able to see his wife and young children on Thanksgiving. So, he took matters into his own hands.

He booked a trip back to his native Texas two weeks early and surprised his kids while they attended school.

Entering in uniform, in the middle of a pep rally at Timber Creek High School, it only took minutes for two of his babies to find him and embrace him with an entire student body as a cheerful audience.

But the service member wasn’t done. After the visit he traveled to the local middle school, where his other daughter was playing basketball.

“She saw him and took off running and jumped into his arms,” said her mother, April, to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Thanksgiving dinner at the Freemans is looking like one they’ll never, ever forget.
