One person is dead and maybe more at a shooting at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. According to the Associated Press, the gunman is unfortunately, still active.

UPDATE: Police in Texas are now saying that at least two people are dead. It’s still an active shooter situation and the base’s security forces as well as local law enforcement are responding.

SECOND UPDATE: The local sheriff’s office is now reporting that it’s a murder suicide.

THIRD UPDATE: According to Reuters, the sheriff’s office said the shooting is now over. Authorities are still present (along with the FBI). The surrounding area remains on lockdown, however.

FOURTH UPDATE: This from Reuters:

The commanding officer of the 331st K-9 Training Squadron at the base was shot by an airman, according to the Air Force Times, an independent news outlet, citing internal Pentagon communications. Neither person was immediately identified.

The incident took place at the Media annex at the facility, where dog training takes place.

FIFTH UPDATE: The gunman was identified as Tech. Sgt. Steven D. Bellino, an enlisted airman who had once worked for the FBI. His victim was Lt. Col. William A. Schroeder, Bellino’s superior officer in his Special Operations training squadron.

Stars and Stripes reported that Bellino had served in the Air Force for less than a year.

Bellino joined the Air Force in June 2015 and was a student with the 342nd Training Squadron, Air Force officials said. The unit provides training and screening in pararescue, combat control, explosive ordnance disposal and other skills used by elite units in Air Force Special Operations Command.

He had served as a Green Beret for ten years before joining the Army National Guard in 2002. He briefly left the military and worked for the FBI as a special agent for just under two years.
