In a stroke of unexpected coincidence, Florida law enforcement has discovered the bodies of not one, but two missing servicemen at two different sites in the Jacksonville area. A connection between the two cases is unlikely, but that doesn’t make the event any less strange.

Police are diving into Florida ponds in their search for Lonzie Barton, a 21 month-old toddler who disappeared from his mother’s apartment two weeks ago. Instead of finding the missing child, police have stumbled upon the bodies of two Navy servicemen.

The first was 22 year-old Yaroslav Victorovich Iventyev, a Navy sailor whose body was discovered on July 28 in the Jacksonville area. Though it is now rusted and covered with mud, police confirmed that the body was found inside Iventyev’s gold 1987 Mazda RX-7. Iventyev went missing in January 2003 after he was seen in a Russian restaurant only one mile away from where his body was found. The police suspect no foul play.

The second was Navy Chief Petty Officer Kevin Williams, who went missing in 2013 after serving in the Navy for 15 years. His body was found in a wooded area near a business complex. His dog tags, military identification and wallet was found on the body. Again, police suspect no foul play.

While the families of these two servicemen can finally find closure, but Lonzie still hasn’t been found. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to call 1-866-845-TIPS.
