In light of the recent terrorist attacks, the Pentagon has barred all military personnel, civilian employees, contractors and dependents from traveling to or from Paris. This “precautionary measure” is designed to keep military members and their families safe as French authorities investigate the attacks and decrease tourism traffic.

“My deepest sympathies go out to the people of Paris and France, and all those impacted by these horrific terror attacks,” said Air Force Gen. Philip M. Breedlove in a statement. “I have contacted the French chief of defense and offered to assist in any way our military can. We will continue to stand beside our oldest NATO ally to deter, disrupt and defeat terrorists who threaten our values, freedoms and way of life.”

All unofficial travel to anywhere within a 50 miles radius of Paris is banned for all Pentagon personnel, and personal, emergency or official leave to any location in France will require approval from Pentagon supervisors. By strictly regulating travel in the country, the Pentagon hopes to make it easier for French police to root out ISIS agents and increase security in this trying time.
