To say Florida native Lewis Alexander is proud of his son, a United States Marine, is like saying Albert Einstein was a smart guy, or that the color of an orange is orange.

It’s not just a vast understatement. It’s a jumbo mega whopper of an understatement.

“You couldn’t get me off the moon when he took his oath,” Alexander told Bay News 9. “I’m very proud of my son.”

Unfortunately, that immeasurable pride was insulted times a million recently, when a vile passerby saw the “Proud parent of a U.S. Marine” sticker on the back of Alexander’s car while it was parked in front of a local Deltona Walmart and countered it by leaving a note on the windshield that read “(Expletive) you and your son. I hope he dies.”

“I was in tears when I got home,” the normally contented father said.

More from BN9:

Alexander said he was only inside Walmart for about 15 minutes before coming outside and seeing the white sheet of paper with those words scribbled in pen.

“It’s horrific, that’s all I can say. I don’t have the words for it,” Alexander said.

But he said what hurts the most is the part that said “I hope he dies.”

“A lot of times when you’re sitting at home, you don’t know where your son’s at. You hear a car pull up, and you look outside to make sure it’s not the chaplain,” Alexander said.

His son is 20 years old and has been serving for two years. He is now the leader of his squad.

Alexander called the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office to let them know what happened, and they posted it to Facebook. The Sheriff’s Office said this is a reminder to thank servicemembers for their service.

The post received an outpouring of support, with hundreds of comments and likes.

“It’s uplifting. It’s given me a lot of solace and lucidity, and I forgive the person,” Alexander said.

According to Walmart, they possess video of the person who did it (most of their stores’ parking lots are surveilled with 24-hour video) but they told a local news channel they won’t be releasing the footage because it’s not “a criminal investigation”.

Let’s change this. Sign our petition by clicking here, and let’s teach this jerk a lesson that our United States military veterans and their families will be honored and NOT disrespected. Let’s get Walmart to RELEASE THE FOOTAGE!
