On June 12, 1987, in a speech at the Brandenburg Gate in Germany, former Army soldier and then-POTUS Ronald Reagan challenged Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev to demolish the Berlin Wall, proclaiming — in what is now a historic phrase — “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”

It could’ve just as easily been “Mr. Gorbachev, this is getting way too heavy, Doc. Tear down this wall!” Or “Mr. Gorbachev, this wall is like a screen door on a battleship — tear it down!” Or even “Biff! I mean, Mr. Gorbachev, don’t be a butthead. Tear down this wall!”

Because Ronald Reagan loved the Back to the Future movies. That’s correct.

See?

According to a recent retrospective piece the Los Angeles Times published on the trilogy turning 30 years old, the Gipper laughed so hard the first time he saw the following scene (that references he, himself) that he told the theater projectionist to rewind it (which wasn’t easy at all back in those days) and play it back again.
