Missy and Jase Robertson of ‘Duck Dynasty’ will meet Navy families at a public event on Oct. 2 at Naval Submarine Base New London. The event will feature acoustic performances by their children Reed and Cole and a book signing for Missy’s memoir ‘Blessed, Blessed… Blessed,’ which will be officially released Oct. 6.

“I have wanted to do an event like this for our troops for quite some time, and when this opportunity arose, I knew it would be the perfect fit,” Missy Robertson said in a statement. “When I think about how blessed my life has been, with its joys and disappointments, its successes and failures, I have never forgotten the fact that my family would not be allowed the freedoms to experience it all if it wasn’t for our military.”

Anyone who has ever watched ‘Duck Dynasty’ knows the family has deep roots in the American military. Uncle Si Robertson is a Vietnam War veteran that served in the Army until 1993, and he has an exhibit dedicated to him in Chennault Aviation and Military Museum in Monroe, Louisiana.

Missy also said in her statement that the family wanted to recognize the sacrifices of American veterans.

“What’s more is that they choose this life,” she said. “It is not forced on them as in other countries.”
