Strolling upon the warped wooden planks through the often-misty air surrounding Pier 39, or Fisherman’s Wharf, and discovering a newborn seal, sure. In San Francisco Bay, that’s as common as a tourist scoring a loaf of sourdough.
But, coming across one of the young fin-footed marine mammals in … New Jersey?
Not so much.
Leave it to the United States Coast Guard to not only find a baby seal, on the beaches of Cape May — but coming to its aid, and ultimately saving its life.
That’s what went on this weekend. Thankfully, the military branch documented the run-in, and unleashed the adorable photographs onto the world.
Apparently, the little dude “took a wrong turn” and ended up stranded on the sands.
