While vacationing in Germany, popular Crossfit competitor Dave Driskell posted the above photo to Instagram as part of his #365DaysofHandstands challenge. In case it wasn’t clear, Driskell is working out inside Berlin’s Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. After suffering a public backlash, the post was deleted.

The memorial in question contains 2,711 concrete slabs of various heights and slopes arranged in slightly askew rows. Similar to the senseless violence of the Holocaust, the memorial is off-putting and tough to glean meaning from. However, anyone who has visited this memorial probably noted how similar it looks to a cemetery.

Driskell isn’t the first person to treat this memorial like a jungle gym. Many publicly available photos show visitors exploring the memorial and even running over the tops of the slabs–though those mostly star children, not CrossFit competitors.

Does Driskell deserve this backlash? Sound off in the comments.
