“It was a surprise my wife set up,” United States Air Force airman Jermaine Hayes of Gainesville, Florida told ABC News. “I was just supposed to meet him while he was out trick-or-treating.”

But what was scheduled to be a surprise just between the family turned into so much more when it took place right in the middle of a neighborhood Halloween party.

The four-year-old boy, Jayden, was originally dressed up as Mickey Mouse, but switched it up last minute as a tribute to his father, who he thought was still deployed, in Iraq.

“Daddy!”

“Hey, buddy!”

Best part? The reunion, hug and celebration was all captured on video. The father-son duo plan to hit the pavement and trick-or-treat together on the Monday holiday.
